Muratoglu, Abdullah (Batman University, Turkey)
- Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at Batman University with a Ph.D in hydraulic engineering from Gaziantep University. Principal study areas include water footprint assessment, sustainability and management of water resources, renewable energy technologies, and hydrokinetic turbine design. He had been a visiting scholar at the California State University (Chico), Geological and Environmental Sciences Department. He also been a guest researcher in University of Twente, Multidisciplinary Water Management Chair. Currently, teaching students in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (undergraduate); Water Footprint Method and Integrated Water Resources Management (graduate). Supervising M.Sc and Ph.D students in the water footprint research group (BTU-WF).
- Dr. Muratoglu applied and supervised the very first studies on water footprint quantification and hydrokinetic energy in Turkey. He is the author of many international research including the encyclopedia chapters on the concept, methodology and response formulations of water footprint analyses.
- Currently conducting research on quantification of blue, green and grey water footprints at the basin, national, provincial and industrial level, as well as the spatial and temporal variations of water footprint and the virtual water flows. His current concept is to maximize the global water use efficiency in agriculture through crop pattern optimization and virtual water flows on a national and international scale.
